STEVE EARLE: The Low Highway (2013) ★★★★

There are a few things I feel you need to know about Steve Earle if you didn’t already. He has lived a full on life, he is a wonderful storyteller and he tours relentlessly. With all that in mind this collection of songs are observations and viewpoints on the social landscape of the U.S.A as viewed from the tour bus. Earle sings of these observations in his distinctive gravelly voice and he is superbly back by a band of talented musicians in The Dukes (& Duchess).  The sounds of steel guitar, banjo, mandolin and the fiddle resonate across the album and help draw you in to the tale being told. If you are a lover of Americana folk rock then this is an album to add to your collection.
